contrasting lives of a couple and their son

In a coastal village, there lived a couple who ran a grocery store. They were little educated but hardworking and good-natured. On hollidays, they often took a posive part in the community's activities. So, they were loved and respected by people around them. The couple was in the same class at the local elementary school.  Their homeroom teacher in the sixth grade advized them to be kind to people and work for the community when they grew up. They've followed the advice ever since.

Their only son, contrary to them, was very intelligent and called a child prodigy in the village.  He entered the best university in Japan. As he continued to study, he became ashamed of his paprents being little ecudated.  After graduating from the top university in Japan, he went on to three prestigious graduate schools in the U.S., Britain and Germany and obtained three Ph.D.s.  He was not a sociable person and decided to live in a moutain village. He continued his study, however, made his living as a translator.  He rarely talked to the local people, but when he did, he showed off his knowledge, boasted of his Ph.D.s and often criticized people and society.  Naturally, he was disliked by the villagers.  One day, his neighbor came to his home and noticed that the mailbox was filled with newspapers and the like. The neighor said, "Hello, Is anybody home?" several times, but no response. Feeling anxious, the neighbor got into the house.   The son of the grocer couple was dead holding the three Ph.D. diplomas in a room pliled high with lots of books.
