downsides associated with "to live right"

When I was young, I considered “living right” an admirable goal. However, now that I’m in my sixties, I find myself increasingly concerned about the downsides of this mindset.

Being fixated on “rightness” often makes us uncomfortable with alternative perspectives and lifestyles that appear incorrect. We tend to judge others self-righteously, imposing our own notions of what’s right upon them or condemning their choices. Even when people dislike us, we stubbornly cling to the belief that we are right and they are wrong.

Unfortunately, this tendency isn’t limited to individuals. When it permeates organizations, groups, or entire nations, it can lead to confrontation, exclusion, and conflict.
